Equipment
What Equipment Do I Need?
Players
- CSA approved helmet with full face cage
- Hockey or lacrosse gloves
- Jock/cup or jill
- Hockey stick (most players use a regular ice hockey stick)
- Shin pads (soccer or ball hockey specific)
Looking for ball hockey specific shin pads? Players Bench and Consignor Sports both carry local options.

Goalies
Goalie equipment can be a significant investment, and we want to make sure cost is never a barrier to playing in net. For players in our younger divisions (U6 and U8), the KBHA provides Bauer Learn to Play goalie sets, so no equipment purchase is necessary to play goal at those levels. Goalies are also welcome to wear their own equipment if they have it.
Players in U10 and older divisions are expected to supply their own goalie equipment, as is standard across most ball hockey associations. Both ice hockey and ball hockey goalie gear are acceptable. All goalies must wear a CSA-approved helmet with full cage, and we strongly recommend wearing the full suite of protective equipment including a chest pad -- that ball hurts!
