Competitive Minor

Competitive Ball Hockey

Ball hockey in Kamloops is just the beginning. For players in our U12 through U18 divisions, there are exciting opportunities to represent your city, your region, and your province on a bigger stage.

Competitive programming isn't guaranteed in every division every year, it depends on the level of parent and player commitment we see that season as well as the interest given in tryouts.

Players try out for this level of ball hockey and are expected to show commitment for the possibility of extra practices, games and tournaments.

Fees for competitive teams can vary but should be expected to be between $200 - $250 plus families must cover their travel/food costs.

Team fees go toward the essentials; tournament entry, jerseys, floor time, and team swag along with other season costs.

Please note This is In Addition to your league team. Tryouts typically take place mid to late April with practices commencing once the local league season is complete.

2027 Competitive Tryouts:

Age Divisions: TBD (Depending on commitment level KBHA Intends to have at least one age division represented at the Western Challenge Cup)
Dates : Late April

Western Challenge Cup

2027 - Lower Mainland of British Columbia July 8th - 11th.

The Western Challenge Cup has been bringing together elite minor ball hockey players from across Western Canada since 1999, drawing associations from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. It is one of the longest-running and most respected youth ball hockey tournaments in the country.

The event rotates host cities across Western Canada year to year. Recent locations have included Saskatoon in 2025 and Edmonton in 2026. The tournament typically runs over four days in July and features divisions across multiple age groups.

For KBHA players, this is a meaningful step up from regular season and provincial play.

If you are interested in pursuing a WCC select team spot, watch for announcements through your division at the start of each season.
